Hi all! This is maybe a minor thing, but enoying! Id be glad if someone could help me. Im just starting with my page, and am noticing that when I add a course (using learndash as LMS) to the cart I get automatically redirected to the shopping cart (thats great),but when I leave the page, and then come back to it (as many users do), add the course again nothing happens, I dont get redirected to the shopping cart. I have to actively enter the “my account” page to see a message there that I cant add the course twice. How can I fix this? Thanks you so much!!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @helphanna

From what you’ve explained, it seems like you’re facing a redirection issue when a course is added to the cart for the second time. This could be due to some settings in your WooCommerce or LearnDash plugins.

To resolve this, make sure you have enabled “Redirect to the cart page after successful addition” and disabled “Enable AJAX add to cart buttons on archives” in WooCommerce > Settings > Product.

If this doesn’t work, you might need to check the settings of your LearnDash plugin. There might be an option to enable redirection to the cart page every time a product is added, regardless of whether it is the same course.

Alternatively, you could consider displaying a message or a pop-up to your users when they try to add the same course twice, informing them that they’ve already added this course to their cart.

Please note that this is a third-party plugin, and we don’t provide help & support for 3rd-party plugins or themes as they’re outside our support scope. It would be best to reach out to the plugin developer for further assistance.

I hope this helped you in the right direction!

?Ill be back with the solution hopefully

    Hello again!

Learndash didnt have a soultion, they said its probably a problem on the woocommerce side, as the message comes from woocommerce, but it only shows up on my account page. So in short, you cant add a product/course twice. If you have any other solution please let me know. Thank you!

    Hey, @helphanna!

Do you have any regular WooCommerce on your website?
If you do, can you please try to add two to the cart to see if the issue persists?

If it does, please let us know so we can assist you further.

If the issue is exclusive with the Learndash products, they need to check what is causing this conflict as compatibility with Woo is something the third-party plugin needs to handle, not us.

    I hope this was clarifying.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hi Carolm29!

Thanks for writing! The issue does not exist when I add two products, that works fine. The issue happens when I add two of the same course (a product that has the setting course on product data in woocommerce). I think this is a woocommerce issue, it seems youve made it so that you cannot add two “course” products, which makes sense but gets confusing when the pop-up explaining that you cant add two only shows up on the my account page. I had a plugin that enabled direct checkout, but the problem persists with it being active and not. Any ideas? Dont want to loose clients who think that the page doesnt work, when truth is theyve already added the course to the cart before but forgot about it.. Thank you ??

    Hi @helphanna,

Can you try with a regular WooCommerce product, using this setting, please?

For instance, this, with Storefront, would trigger a message like this on the product page:

I also tested this on your course’s product page (I clicked on it after adding it to the cart it took me to the product page, not the course page, which was fortunate for me to test this), and I can see a similar behavior:

However, going back to the course page here and adding it again redirects to the home page. I’m afraid, though, that since this course page is not from WooCommerce, its behavior is not dependent on us directly; thus, our support scope is limited. Again, we suggest you contact Learndash support about this and explain the difference between the product page and the course page.

An alternative I can think as a workaround would be linking the course page button to the product page instead (I’m not sure if this is possible in Learndash, though), so users can purchase it from there, and if they’ve already added it to their cart, they’d get a notice that they can’t add it again, to avoid confusion.

    Thanks!

    Hi Omarfpg!

Thank you for your answer. You list the problem as I experience it as well.

It seems like “inventory” on woocommerce settings is set automatically to 1 when it comes to courses. I don’t see however that this is a learndash problem, the pop-up is woocommerce and I am solely using woocommerce to sell my courses, not learndash. Learnash cannot help me with this because Im using woocommecre to sell it.. The course is fine, its when I add it to the shoppingcart is when the problem appears.

Is there anyway to get the pop-up to appear on all pages? If the redirect doesnt work this could be a solution. For now it only appears on woocommerce pages..

The last option you state would be a solution, but I see it as many unnessesary clicks for the user. But yes, if nothing else works, I guess I have to do it this way. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know! Thank you so much for your time!

And have a lovely day ????

    Hi @helphanna

Unfortunately, the pop-up message is tied to WooCommerce pages and cannot be made to appear on all pages. This is because the alert is triggered by WooCommerce’s internal system, which only functions on its own pages.

As for the issue of adding a course twice, it is indeed a WooCommerce feature that prevents the same course from being added twice to the cart. However, the behavior of the course page when you try to add the course again is not something that WooCommerce controls, as it is part of the LearnDash plugin system.

I understand that adding extra steps for your users is not ideal, but as a workaround, linking the course page button to the product page might be the most effective solution at this time. This way, users will receive the notice that they can’t add the course again on the product page, which should help avoid confusion.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you for using WooCommerce!

    Hi Shameem!

I finally get it. I have to link everything to the productpage, the user have to go via the productpage and there they will see the pop-up..

    Ok, thanks everyone!

    Hey, @helphanna!

I’ll close this thread now, okay?
