Topic subscription suddenly stopped working

Hello: we’ve been using your plugin for years, even purchased some extras.
However, since January 1st topic suscription suddenly stopped working. People who were subscribed to topics suddenly stopped receiving emails when those topics got new answers. It has been working perfectly until then, and we havent changed any option within the plugin (in fact, we haven’t even got into the plugin options for years).

What can be happening? Is it a bug? Is there any way to restore that useful option?
