  • Hi,

    **YCG = Youtube Channel Gallery

    Youtube has changed their api moving from v2 to v3.
    Be sure to put the new api key in the YCG widget. This key is required
    to make request to the youtube api (that’s how the plugin works).
    [] —- You can request the key in:
    Go to: https://console.developers.google.com (you need a gmail account)
    1- create a project
    2- Enable api
    3- API -> Youtube Data API -> enable api
    4- The go in Credentials: in Public Api Access, create a new Browser key.
    5- Then copy this key into your youtube channel widget in wordpress). –[]

    Hi,
    believe me, i make all this as described but i still become the Server error. And the <[]> is never full with the number. Only if I put the giving IDs in the example, it is full. I ‘don’t know what I doing false.
    I′m sure that my IDs are right cause I tested it with other Apps.
    Could some body help mir?

    I’m pretty much getting the same issue.

    The problem isnt so much the API key- I did all that and it works.

    It’s the user ID.

    Newer youtube accounts have a code for the user ID- there is no “name” like

    “johnsvideos”

    that they give you until you are established.

    The plugin does not seem to want to accept these userid codes that youtube supplies- it is looking for a “name” but we dont have them if the account is new.

    Any solution?

    tikishag, For the user id, do the following steps:

    Go in the youtube channel and click the channel name.

    You’ll see something like https://www.youtube.com/user/XXX

    That XXX is what you need.
    For example:
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVttQE6tS_agDSAU61Q65aA
    In there, click on EnriqueIglesiasVEVO,
    you’ll see https://www.youtube.com/user/EnriqueIglesiasVEVO
    EnriqueIglesiasVEVO is what you need.
    Hope it helps.

    Best,
    /Jehiel

    @kdiom: be sure that if you select user id, you put the user id and if
    you choose playlist id, you did put the playlist id.

    @toby04 :You’re welcome ?? Glad this helped.

    @nilesh.nil17, Sure. I’ll be glad to help!
    We could do a quick TeamViewer or skype meeting,
    so you’ll see how it works. Send me a msg/call on skype: kjehiel

    kjehiel: Thanks so much for your information, please listen to tikishag, the problem is the user name, my youtube channel does not have a name format such as https://www.youtube.com/user/XXX

    I have the following format: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVttQE6tS_agDSAU61Q65aA

    When hoovering or clicking on the channel name i can only see the following format:
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVttQE6tS_agDSAU61Q65aA

    Please advise. Many thanks

    @elevensuns you’re welcome ??
    Hum, weird that when you click on EnriqueIglesiasVEVO, your url doesnt change.
    I have a new account and its working.

    Here is another trick:
    In the channel page, right click -> view page source and then, search for “user”
    You should get something.

    If still, you dont get it, give me your youtube channel link. I’ll find that ??

    Best,
    /J

    @eleven sums,
    Under your banner, click on your name
    Look at the Url now in the address bar

    https://www.youtube.com/user/EnriqueIglesiasVEVO

    I am having the same problem. I have registered for a unique ID but the widget is not linking. It says “Check in YouTube if the id RustycrookAuMusic belongs to a username.”

    When I follow this link it takes me to https://www.youtube.com/user/RustycrookAuMusic

    The correct URL for my user id is
    https://www.youtube.com/c/RustycrookAuMusic

    @pgranclaud:
    – be sure to update the plugin to the lasted version (current version should be 2.2.2 check to be sure)
    – In the plugin widget, select Uploaded by user -then Identify by: Channel Id and paste your channel ID: UC3qpwTl7DiQGKffIX_sHHqg. Try with the default api key. If it’s not working, generate a new one in your google console (see my first post for this)

    You should get something like this: https://ctrlv.in/604893

    I just tried and it works with the current version.

    Best,
    /J

    @kjehiel Thanks for the reply. Widget is working now although I cannot get the short code to work
    [Youtube_Channel_Gallery user=”RustycrookAuMusic” maxitems=”16″ thumb_columns_phones=”2″ thumb_columns_tablets=”4″ ]

    is there a channel id version of this short code?
