For some years now I have successfully used WP-Mail-SMTP to a Google Apps mail account on port 465 but for some reason all forms on the site started freezing because for some unexplainable reason port 465 was blocked (I used a shared business account on HostGator who have been of no assistance – not responded to my tickets on the problem).

I have disabled WP-Mail-SMTP and after a few configuration and authentication problems I now have Postman SMTP running on port 443. Whilst configuring the account I used my own email address as I am administrator of the Google Apps email account and I now find that the emails (such as confirmations) from forms on the site appear to be coming from me rather than [email protected] as was the case with WP-Mail-SMTP. I have changed the Envelope Address and Message From Address in advanced Settings Messages tab but this has not resolved the problem.

How do I fix this problem please as I want all message conformations to be from [email protected] rather than me and the reply to address to be [email protected] as well? AttungaSkiLodge.com.au

Google does not allow the From address to be changed, unless you configure the Send Mail As option.

This may have worked in the past, but no longer.

Envelope From should be your address.
Message From should be [email protected].

OK thanks for the prompt response. I will take a look.

I wonder if I configure your plugin whilst logged in to Google Developers Console as [email protected] for the Google Authentication process if it would overcome the problem?

In the meantime – HostGator have finally responded to my ticket (took them 3 days) and white-listed port 465 so, as an interim measure, I have reactivated the old WP-Mail-SMTP plugin and everything is working the way it used to with email confirmations from website forms having a reply address as [email protected].

I imagine so. Sounds like you setup the wrong account (yours and not managers)

I have reactivated the old WP-Mail-SMTP plugin and everything is working the way it used to

Postman also supports password auth on port 465.
