Mess with internal linking

  • Hello, forum. I have a total mess with internal linking.
    Sett up: wp job manager + Yoast plugin + works out theme
    For categories, I’m using taxonomy pages.

    What I meant by mess:
    – all posted jobs linked to the home page
    – all posted jobs links to each existing category
    – expired and even moved to trash jobs still links to categories
    Even after the home page and categories pages were re-indexed.

    Did anyone have the same or similar issue?

    Can you please explain what you mean by “– all posted jobs linked to the home page
    – all posted jobs links to each existing category”?

    What happens when you click on the job title on the job listings page?

    Have you tried re-saving the permalinks? Also, have you tried disabling other plugins and switching to a default theme to figure out at which point things get broken?

    Remark: to check internal linking I’m using the Links Report in Google Console

    In the links report, I see that literally, each job created on the website links to my home page https://gamingjobs.in/. Additional problem is that already expired jobs are also still linked.

    I have category: https://gamingjobs.in/job-category/ux-ui-design-jobs/ if you open the page there is only one actual job in this category.

The Links report in google console shows this page has 1170 internal links.
Example of internal links from GC:

https://gamingjobs.in/?post_type=job_listing&p=1036/feed/ https://gamingjobs.in/job/bangalore-only-immediate-unity3d-game-developer/ – expired job from another category 
https://gamingjobs.in/job/business-insights-supervisor/ – an actual job from another category

    What happens when you click on the job title on the job listings page?

    the job page opens in the same tab

    Have you tried re-saving the permalinks?

    yes, did it a few days ago
    but so far I don’t any change in the Links report

    Also, have you tried disabling other plugins and switching to a default theme to figure out at which point things get broken?

    not yet, but I couldn’t figure out what the issue it looks like only one way to go
