Merged Color Variations?

  • Is it possible to take varying “like” colors and merge them into (1) attribute and/or setup a logic/filter that says anything containing the word “White” is grouped under the color:white parent attribute?

    Working with vehicles, and there might be “Simmering White Pearl”, “Polar White” or who-knows… But if I add those all as independent attributes it will become an unruly list.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Feed provider has agreed to provide me a generalized color column in the feed… So no longer needed but still would be an interesting discussion can’t imagine I’m the only one here.

    How about using the product tags for that? Another way is to create a custom taxonomy for colors.
