Merge two categories into one

Hey,
is it possible tow merge two categories into one? Currently we have 6 different categories and two of them are more or less the same(this is related to a different wording in our old system), except their names and we would like to merge them. So you have category 1 and 2 which have the same meaming with different names. Now all of category 2 should become category 1, so that we can delete category 2

I do not understand it. So just dalete the category 2….
Or just do you want put all listing from cateogry 2 to category 1 (if is not exesting already in it)?

yes we want to put all listings from category 2 to category 1. Then we can delete category 2. At the moment we cant delete category 2 because of different results in the search.
