• Your plugin looks promising but it doesn’t seem possible to do what I want.
I need a table like the one in the link, ie merging cells in a column.

It works great for the first column, but when I select the cells in the middle column using the ctrl key ‘merge cells’ is greyed out. If I use the shift to select cells it of course selects ones I don’t want merged.

To summarise, in a table 3 cols x 8 rows
1st col 4 rows to be merged then the next 4 to be merged = 2 ‘rows’ (works fine)
2nd col 2 rows to be merged (merge cells is greyed out)

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @babrees,
I see your point. We’ll include your suggestion in our to-do list as a possible new feature.

What a shame – I thought perhaps I was simply doing something wrong LOL!

Thanks. That would be great. In the meantime I’ll have to write it in html.

Sorry, mi mistake. We indeed have a feature to merge cells.

Select the cells, similar to how you select multiple files in your computer by using control key.
Then use the merge cells feature. See this screenshot: https://ibb.co/5Fd8cGP

Thank you, but that doesn’t work.

To begin with I have found the selection with ctrl is very iffy – sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t and you have to keep trying.

And, as I said in my op, whilst I could merge cells in the first column, when I select multiple cells in either the 2nd or 3rd columns the merge cells feature is greyed out.

We updated our docs to explain this process: https://publishpress.com/knowledge-base/advanced-table-block/#how-to-merge-cells

OK I tried it again and your link works. What you advised me to does not work

    Thanks.

Any luck using Control key, instead?

This was never resolved and I thought I would check it out again to see if there was any improvement on it working.

    Sadly I see not.

It is still very hit and miss trying to select cells. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

If you use shift click on the first column you can select multiple cells and merge does indeed work.

Shift click does not work for other columns as, when it does work, it will select cells in other columns as well. Using ctrl click to select cells in 2nd and 3rd columns, if you are lucky and it works then merge is greyed out, not available

Such a shame as I really had high hopes for this. Had it worked it would have been perfect for my use

@babrees we have documentation explaining the merge cells process: https://publishpress.com/knowledge-base/advanced-table-block/#how-to-merge-cells

If you need more help, please share a screencast reproducing the issue.

That is the same link as before.

It does not work. Please see my last post which explains how it does not work.

I want to select and merge 2 cells in the 2nd column.
    I attach 2 screen shots.

Img 1 – shows using shift to select cells does not work – you cannot merely select two in the 2nd column
Img 2 – shows that after several attempts to select the cells the Merge is greyed out and not available.

This is the problem I have had since day 1 – see my post above dated 5th February

@babrees thanks for the clarification! I see your point. We included your feedback in our report and we’ll improve this feature as time permits.
