Menubar width extended? how to change?

Hey there,
The default menubar for my site has been extended. It used to be slim and fit just the words, and now it’s about doubled in size. I’m not sure how to fix this, as I’ve tried using a menu from the widgets but have had no success. Thanks for any help you can offer, this means a lot.
