    Hello,
    I’m an independent tour guide, and I’m working on my site about the Holy Land in Twenty Eleven. In my Primary Dropdown Menu I’d like to have an hierarchy as follows. Say, “Notes” –> Upper Galilee —> Acre, Safed etc.
    The problem, I’d like only Level 0 (Notes) and Level 2 (Acre, Safed etc) pages to be the real pages. Level 1 (Upper Galilee) I’d like to have as a subheader, not as a page itself. Or, in other words, I don’t want my mouse pointer to become a “hand” instead of an arrow when placed above the “Upper Galilee”. How can I do this using dashboard, for example?
    Thanks.

  • You’ll need to use the Menu builder under appearance > menus

    But all of the pages that you add in the menus are links. You cannot have subheaders in a menu system, but you can create custom menus that jump to another page.

    Having header in menus system is very poor usability. Make it simple for your visitors and don’t make them think.

    OK, thanks, Christine. I created my Primary menu with submenus (dragging menu items a little to the right as explained). Anyway, I didn’t find an option, how can I jump from Level 2 to Level 3. In other words, I still would like my customers to go directly to Level 3 (sites descriptions), and I’d prefer to leave Level 2 items (Lower Galilee, Upper Galilee etc) only as headers and “dividers” in the dropdown menu, not as real pages. I guess, it will be simple enough. BTW my bank menu uses the same approach: I cannot click “in the middle”. How can I do this? Thanks again

    Or, probably, using a dashboard it’s not so simple? And I should hack some code in my child theme, using something like a “display: none”-option for my Level 2 menu dividers? Thanks

    You can just make your level 2 menus go to level three by creating custom menus instead of pulling the pages. — in the left hand column, you can create custom menus, just write what you want and link it to the page on level three.

    Personally I do think that it’s poor usability. All menu items should be clickable.

    And we all know that bank website are really bad and confusing. ??

    Hi,
    Do you want the top level to be headers?

    To do this Top Level type “URL Link” with just a #

    Pets = URL Link = #
    -Dogs = Url Link = #
    –Boxer = post or page
    –Jack Russel = post or page
    –Poodle = post or page
