Menu that list Catergories and LINKS or a Table of Content

    Hello,
    I’m brand new to WP and creating my own website… so please be gentle. I’ve done my homework but Google hasn’t help me yet, or I just don’t know how to search for what I need.

    I have a few posts on my site, and they are categorized. So I want to create a Table Of Content (or a menu… is it call a menu, right?)
    I want to create a menu that looks like this:

    Category_1 <— if this is exapandable, groovy!
    subcat_a
    subcat_b
    subcat_c
    Category_2 <— if this is exapandable, groovy!
    subcat_a
    subcat_b
    …
    etc.

    I know the standard menu does that, but what I want is when the link is click it shows a list of LINKS to my posts… rather than the actual posts one after the other.

    Is there a Plug-in that would do that?
    would it be easier if instead of post they are pages?
