Menu styling: Gigawatt theme

I have created a child theme for Gigawatt and am having trouble locating two things:

— I want to remove the discs separating the main menu items (I set list-style-type:none in every occurance of li in the style sheet but to no avail)

— I want to remove the two horizontal lines at the bottom of the main content (above the footer)
