Hi. The menu works a treat on all my static pages but when it comes to my blog index and its posts it won’t open on mobile. Had a look at the troubleshooting article but can’t find the applicable issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi matsp,

If you check the browser console on those pages you will see some JavaScript errors:

(those will be preventing the mobile menu from working)

Have you modified the twentyseventeen theme at all?

Hi Tom, thanks for the reply.

I have no idea how to address the errors the console identifies. Is there a specific error I can research that you think is causing the problem with the menu?

I don’t understand why it works in desktop view with the same errors. I have modified the theme as the site has been designed using visual composer.

    Many thanks.

    Hi Matt,

Your theme thinks it has a sidebar on the right of those pages, and therefore the body tag is given the class ‘has-sidebar’. Further down the JavaScript, because your theme has a sidebar (or so it thinks), it looks for the container with the ID “secondary”.

However, it looks like Visual Composer has removed the theme sidebar and replaced it with its own, so there is no longer a container with the ID “secondary”. In other words, the JavaScript is looking for something that doesn’t exist because Visual Composer has removed/replaced it. That is causing the error.

It looks like the whole site is created using Visual Composer, so is there any need to use TwentySeventeen? Maybe you could switch to a simpler theme. “Hello Elementor” might work well.

    Regards,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

My sincere thanks for your detailed reply, it’s very helpful.

Tbh it’s all a bit beyond me, I may have to pay someone to sort it out.

    Thanks again,
    Matt
