• I have a bit of a non-traditional setup. I’m using a multisite install to add some additional functionality to my theme (two home pages).

In the navigation menu of my subsite install, I’m trying to link back to the primary site that has sections on the home page.

When I enter the link in the menu of the subsite, they become unclickable. If I right click open in new tab, it works. Please see below.

    subsite
    https://servicesandsolutions.avantcommunications.net/

    primary domain
    https://www.avantcommunications.net/

Thanks in advance, I’d really appreciate some help with this.

You mean links like this: https://servicesandsolutions.avantcommunications.net/#top

    https://www.avantcommunications.net/#section-partner-programs

Do the links without #’s work?

So when I tried removing the # the link was clickable again, but it took me to a page not found.

In the menu options I have the ability to select “page” or “section”

Neither work for what I’m trying to do, but it seems like if I select “page” as the option and include a # in the link, the link becomes inactive. If I select “section” as the option the link is active but the address is modified in the html so that it changes it to an internal link (removes avantcommunications.net/ and modifies the link to #section-parnter-programs) Since the section is on an exteral page, the link defaults to the top of the page.

So it seems like I’m trying to do something that wordpress doesn’t want me to do. Can anyone think of a workaround?

How was the menu made? If you use a custom URL, so long as the URL is actually REAL, it should work.

I’m using a custom link and the link is real. I can’t figure out what the problem is. Would you consider this a theme issue or a WordPress issue?

Test on Twenty Fourteen and if it works, I’d say theme
