Change Menu for each group of users

Hello,
I am using pen-theme for a long time but now I would like to include a memberspace function to my webseit. Therefore I need the menus to change if the user is logged in or not or if the user has a specific role. I found tutorials on the internet but I did not find the correct functions in pen-theme, where the menus are declared. I searched throght the header.php, but there are functions and functions and I did not find the correct one.
Can somebody help me?
