The latest version of the the theme, 1.5.9, appears to have broken my main navigation menu! It is truncating the items stored in the primary menu, and if I add the missing entries back, on saving they disappear and the menu is removed as ‘primary’.

Is this connected with the sub-menu links Enhancement perhaps? Possibly a plug-in clash, but I don’t have any managing menus, so unlikely. I’ll check anyway.

I’ve now counted the menu items – should be 100 in total, but 10 have dropped off.

Guess it could possibly be a WP 3.9/3.9.1 issue instead, as I don’t think I’ve edited the menu for a while. Just that TinyForge sub-menu enhancement seemed a likely place to start ….

For better diagnostics, you could revert temporarily to older Tiny Forge versions and see the results:

Then try to disable all plugins to see if everything is working and then enable them one by one checking the results.

I have found this comprehensive explanation of the issue, which is PHP related! https://sevenspark.com/wordpress/menu-item-limit

Looks like recent tweaking by my shared hosting provider was the issue. Although the article does imply that they were lax in their PHP 5.4 settings previously.

I took the opportunity to review the menu items, and I have got it within the 90 limit with only one drop I didn’t really want to do.

Mark this one “solved”, theme-wise anyway.

PS I did roll back to 1.5.8, which confirmed my suspicion that fonts in the body of pages had changed. I will stick with the old version until I’ve worked out what to tweak in my child theme for 1.5.9

    Thanks for finding that out!

Regarding fonts it is interesting, because I believe I changed only line height of post title, didn’t do any changes to post content font.

    Hi Tomas

Just replying on the font change. I have done a quick ‘live preview’ for both 1.5.8 and 1.5.9, which should exclude impact from any poor construction of my child theme. And there is a clear difference in font size in the page main content area, but not the sidebar.

I’ve uploaded screen shots, plus one of the current child equivalent for interest, to https://vr.volresource.org.uk/about/site-notes/

    Browser is latest Firefox.

    Hope that helps

By default text in a single view is larger, to make it easier to read, but it was for a long time, perhaps you just didn’t noticed it? ??

Odd that the front page exception to the larger “single view” hadn’t shown up before 1.5.9. That gives me the pointer to find the line in style.css to overwrite in the child theme.

Personally I prefer main content font size to be all the same – I’ve gone for the larger option. Not a major issue but nice to have sorted.

    Thanks for your help.
