Menu icons in footer widget

Hello ??

I have a question to a navigation menu in a footer widget.

Is it possible to hide the default > icon of the list element. So that I can show my own icon instead e.g. I have defined a navigation label as:
<i class=”fa fa-envelope”></i> mailto://<my-email-address&gt;
but it is then shown in the footer as:
> [the envelop icon] [my-email-address]
but I would like to show
[the envelop icon] [my-email-address]
