Not sure why, but a few things are not working in my admin area after i upgraded to 3.8. Please note this was tested in most recent versions of chrome, firefox, and ie.

    – When I hover over a menu item, for instance appearance, no sub-items pop out (ie: widgets, menus etc)

    – When I pull up Appearance > Menus, I am unable to edit anything in the drag and drop section. I am able to ‘drag and drop’ but I cannot edit details, and the ‘delete’ links are gone.

Any idea what is going on here?

  • Any resolution to this issue you are having? ??
I’ve got the exact same thing happening on 42 sites.
Doesn’t matter what browser or you log in with BUT, it only appears on windows machines. Appearing to users in 5 different states IF they look on a windows machine. Macs and linux will see everything fine.
Has to be the most frustrating bug I’ve ever had the trace down.

Same issue here. Driving me nuts. Have done all the same tests with no luck, and tested on 5 computers and all the same results. I dont even know what to try next. This issue started with 3.8 for me, and i was hoping 3.8.1 would fix it, but no change. Any and all advice is much appreciated.

    Esmi.. anything?

Surely the powers that be at WP must now know this is not an isolated incident? I would echo what Crest said.. it does only seem to happen from windows machines… Anytime I view on my mac it works fine.

Thanks for your attention to the matter thus far…

There are no “powers that be at WP”. WordPress is free software created by a volunteer community and this free, volunteer-staffed forum is the only support resource available via www.remarpro.com.

Looking at your error messages,. there’s a definite issue in your current Flashlight theme. Where did you download this theme from? In the meantime, you can try switching to the default theme by renaming:

    wp-content/themes/flashlight

    to:

    wp-content/themes/flashlight-old

using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

I downloaded the theme from Kreisi… but I have tried other themes, including WP provided themes and this is still an issue regardless of the theme used.

Can we see your site using the default Twenty Fourteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

esmi..if you scroll up a few comments ago, I already tried that and it did not work.

Done.. If you could reply ASAP I would appreciate it, as my shopping cart is now down (plugin).

Everything looks as it should on the front end of your site. Can you access the admin flyout menus now? If not, can you try:

resetting the plugins folder by phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I’ve already tried the second suggestion before (re-uploading all files from fresh download of WordPress).

Will try the plugins suggestion now.

    Nope… Didn’t work ??

Have you tried using another browser? Another computer on a different network?

    (@noslenwerd)

Yes… Tested on various versions of IE/Firefox/Chrome all on windows, from various locations/networks/desktops, all are not working correctly.

Any browser on mac/apple, does not show up in error.

Do you have any other WP sites on a different server?
