• When the site is opened on any page on the mobile the menu seems to auto default to expand. I wand it to not be expanded unless the user on a mobile device clicks on the menu icon. Can this be done?

Hi @carolineellison I’m able to replicate this when visiting your site on my mobile device – but on my end, after a second or so, the expanded menu contracts again back into the menu-button. Is this happening for you too?

This obviously isn’t the normal behaviour of this theme, so I’d suggest some basic troubleshooting to start.

First, let me ask you some questions:

    • Did this problem only start recently or is this a new site and it’s always been this way? If it’s a new problem on an older site, do you recall making any recent changes, such as installing a new plugin or editing any files/making any code changes?
    • Is the issue present with all your plugins temporarily deactivated? If you prefer, you can use the Health Check plugin‘s troubleshooting mode for this, which will not change your live site. If the problem goes away, reactivate your plugins one by one, while still in troubleshooting mode, to find the culprit. (If you use the plugin, you’ll need to do this via the mobile version of your site.)
    • Is the issue present with a default theme like Twenty Twenty-Twenty? Again, you can use the Health Check plugin for this.

    Hi

This is a new site only been on this theme for 3 weeks. I wonder if it is the additional CSS asking the header to be above the menu. I will see if it continues if I remove the additional CSS and see. Other than that I don’t understand why it does it.

I have tried it with the header additional CSS in and out and it does the same. Seems loads the menu expanded and then once all loaded collapses the menu. Any other ideas please.

Hi @carolineellison – the next step would be to do some plugin and theme conflict testing:

    • Is the issue present with all your plugins temporarily deactivated? If you prefer, you can use the Health Check plugin‘s troubleshooting mode for this, which will not change your live site. If the problem goes away, reactivate your plugins one by one, while still in troubleshooting mode, to find the culprit. (If you use the plugin, you’ll need to do this via the mobile version of your site.)
    • Is the issue present with a default theme like Twenty Twenty-Twenty? Again, you can use the Health Check plugin for this.
