When selecting dropdown menu on mobile phones they dissapear so you can’t select the items.

    Main menu looks like this

    Hem Om Bolinderbyn V Bo i Bolinderbyn V Bygga Om V ……

Clicking on Bygga Om V shows sub menu with Utomhus V with 9 items, they dissapears quickly on they Mobile Phone, then you are back att Bygga Om.

It is possibe to open the submeny if you persist holding the finger on the down arrow and ask it to open in a new group.

Problem is the same on Safari and Chrome (have 89.0.4389.105), it also fails in the same way when testing out the different device options logged in as admin for the website.

WP version is 8.8.1, Responsive version is 4.6.2.

I don’t know when it stopped working, person that reported the issue told me it was OK in September last year, now it is not.

I have always made sure I update both WP and Responsive regularly.

  • @joergenwestman In the mobile menu, when you click on the down arrow (v) next to the text, the sub-menu will open. Clicking on that arrow icon again will close the sub-menu.
However, if you click anywhere else on that menu text then the particular link will open.

    Hi @joergenwestman ,

You have to click exactly on the dropdown arrow “v” present at the end of the menu item to expand the respective menu.

In tablet view or mobile view, the entire menu item (apart from the dropdown arrow “v” element) is treated as a “link” item.

Hence, when you click on the menu item and not the dropdown arrow “v”, it will redirect you to the respective link. This is intended behavior.

We checked this on the website link you provided and we were able to successfully navigate to “Bastu” present under “Bygga Om (v)” -> “Inomhus (v)” on our android devices.

    Thanks for the replies,

I am also able to open the lower down items, but only if I don’t lift my finger after touching the “V” next to the text.

If I on the other hand touch the “V” and remove my finger the sub item instantly close, is that really intended?

For me it is not very intuitive that you must not lift your finger from the “V”.

Despite me being responsible for the WEB site I have to admit that I have not used it a lot with a mobile phone, but user’s that have tell me that this behaviour is new.

Would an Mobile Menu plugin make a difference?

@joergenwestman We tried replicating this issue but failed. We also checked your website ( https://www.bolinderbyn.se ) on a number of android / iOS devices but did not faced any issue.

If you could tell me the model of your mobile device, we can check your website on that as well. To send the video, you can contact us by filling our support form.
You can find its link in the footer section of our main website.

    Thanks for looking into this.

My Mobile is a Sony Xperia XZ3, but the issue has been seen on iPhone running Safari as well.

So to make sure you understand the issue I see, the sub menu dissaperas as soon as you lift you finger from the screen.

The recording I will send show how it behaves.

    Hi,

I have now sent the Video “Video_Menu_Disappears.mp4” to support.

    It shows the beahaviour.

As I did that a new account was created for me, hope that will not cause a problem with my current support account.

    Hi,

I am replying in the original thread to your reply on the video I sent:

    Hi J?rgen,

You are pressing the dropdown icon for too long which is why its asking you if you want to open it in a new tab or so.

Just click (one tap) on the drop down icon, NOT on the text, ON the dropdown icon and it will work correctly.

    Regards,
    Prajakti Sahay

The issue is that if I just release my finger from the dropdown it dissaperars, and I get no opportunity to see the selections available for the dropdown.

If I as you see in the other part of the video I sent hold my finger for a longer time I will get the opportunity to see the selectionsn available.

Can you actually expand the sub menu on your phone?

    Best Regards

    Hi,

I finally managed to navigate on my Xperia XZ3 (I was going to record another video and suddenly I could see it working), you have to put your finger at the top rigt corner of the “V”, then it open up the sub menu, any other area and it will open and then quickly close the sub menu. The area is very small.

If you put your finger on top of the “V” it will just open and quickly close again. This is not very intuitive, as users started to complain it must have worked in a different way before.

Is there a way to change the area that you have to hit for the sub menu to open?

    Best Regards

    J?rgen Westman

    Hi @joergenwestman ,

You can set the header menu manually, which will slightly increase the clickable area of the dropdown icon “v”.

The menu can be manually created under WordPress admin dashboard -> Appearance -> Menus.

Also, thank you for your valuable feedback. I will forward this to our development team and we will consider this for our future releases.
