Menu Custom Link

  • Hi!

    I am a newbie using WP 5.1 with the Twenty Nineteen theme.

    Adding a Custom Link to an Image allows one to select whether or not to open the link’s URL on a new page.

    How do I do that for Custom Links in the Primary Menu? For example, the link to:

    https://www.youtube.com/acrylicmath

  • in your dashboard just go to appearance -> menu there a tab for custom links on the sidebar just click it and add the custom link. You can drag and drop it to the desired place you want it to appear on your menu.

    When you open the menu you will see options on the left-hand side for pages, post, and custom links, and Category. If you want to add them to a menu you simply drag the item into your menu structure. If it a custom menu item you would have to choose the custom tab and add the link and text for the item. Whatever you add to the structure the theme will create the code for you

    I read the Codex, but, for the Custom Link, it does not say how to make the link’s URL open on a new page.

    Just check the check box that says open on new page

    Dear MrTom414,

    That is true for Custom Links in other places, but not in the Menu. Adding a link in the Menu does not have the CheckBox.

    Click on the screen options at the top of your page on the right-hand side then check the box that says LINK TARGET. You should then see the check box to open in new tab.
