Menu color only white?

Hello,
Love the theme thus far and I like how my site is turning out (https://mixmyclips.com)
The issue I’m having, and maybe others might is the menu text color being white only is visible over the front page. On other pages it can’s be seen as the background is also white. I’ve added a side widget with a menu just to have something to navigate with, but I’d like to remove it of course.
So can I change the menu text color? Doesn’t seem to matter which theme color I choose, text is always white.
Also, I tried this suggestion in a custom CSS plugin:

.blog-menu a { color: #726E6D; }

Just used a grey color number, but it didn’t work.
