• We cannot figure out what happened to the menu arrows on 2 of our websites. They are displaying as organic boxes and they should be orange chevrons.

We updated a group of plugins and they suddenly disappeared. Can anyone help me identify what happened.
    Thank You Kindly

  • This is likely a css and/or caching issue. I’d clear all cached resources from any caching plugins and cdn services you’re using as well as your browser.

Hi Davood. Unfortunately this isn’t the problem. I believe it is CSS related but I cannot find where and clearing cache did not fix it

Double check that you do not have gzip compression or minification settings turned on. Sometimes, these settings can be found in the theme, so if you have a plugin that does these things make sure that your theme does not include such settings; if the theme has such settings and you have a plugin for them the code could be conflicting with each other. Hope this helps.

    Thanks…but thats not it.

    All the best Davood :-S

I’ve alerted some of the other volunteers here in the wp.org forums of this thread remaining unresolved. Someone else will hopefully chime in shortly. ??

Was one of those plugins a theme-specific plugin?

Since this started after the plugin upgrade why not kill the plugins by renaming them (I’d just FTP in and add 1234 to each plugins name). Test and see if the problem goes away.

It might not make a difference now but that’s a good place to start…

When I played around with the CSS code I managed to break the little character box completely a couple of times so I’m thinking the CSS is really the problem…

Did you or a plugin happen to remove a Font file?

Can you restore your CSS code and any fonts you might have stepped on from a backup?

Can you restore a complete backup from just before these updates? If a restore fixes things then another round of updates would be in order but you’ll want to do them one at a time and test thoroughly before proceeding.

And that’s a commercial theme from what I can see so maybe asking the theme author for help would be best if nothing I suggested works or can be done.

    Wow…fantastic input JNash…
Those are really great ideas and I’ll follow through n them. It happened fort on one site then on another so I’m guessing it’s a plugin update.

Indeed a site specific plugin too. I’m not a big fan of this theme or the developers that did it before me. Too many customizations that are “proprietary” which Im guessing now that they aren’t on the job anymore…don’t get maintained.
