  • Thanks for reaching out. From the checks I’ve performed on your theme I don’t see any mention of AMP compatibility. As it’s a commercial theme I’m unable to test it. You can however make use of AMP by selecting reader mode and then selecting an AMP compatible theme for the AMP version of your content.

You also have other options, including making your themes navigation menu AMP compatible or using the amp-sidebar component. You’ll find more on this by visiting the below page on the plugin website:

    Hi,

I try to use on our site the plugin, but it breaks the tap actions. There is no error on console nor in server side php log. This is a custom AMP template directly created for this site by me.

    The site is: https://www.azenkutyam.hu

The plugin is disbaled now, but if I enable, the search button and the hamburger menu in mobile devices simple do nothing.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi @ggocsei,

Typically many navigation menu and search box make use of custom JavaScript. For performance reasons custom JavaScript has some restrictions in AMP, which is why you’ll find many don’t function by default on fully valid AMP URLs. You’ll find more on this in the website documentation link referenced above.

From checking various URLs on the site you provided I can see that the navigation menu and search box are working. Have you since made modifications to your site?

If you’d like to open an individual support topic we can assist with you further on this.

Yepp, disabled the AMP plugin ?? Because this is a production site I try to minimize the time when it’s not working. If you can tell me a 2 hours window then I’ll enable the plugin for that time.

As I told you, this is a dedicated AMP theme, there isn’t a sinle line javascrip. The menu and the search is based on AMP bind.

    Hi G?csei,

Indeed feel free to open an individual support topic as per WordPress support forum guidelines. We can then investigate any possible issue further should there be something to be addressed on the plugin side.

Note also that I took another look at your site, which seems fully AMP valid from the URLs I inspected. Your navigation menu and search are working for me at present as per the previous recording.

If you’ve disabled the plugin can you share more insights on how this or provide a screen recording, using a service such as Loom or RecordIt? If you’re using a static site generator or a cached version of your site maybe this could be why your site at present is fully AMP valid. After opening a support topic feel free to share further insights in the form of your Site Health information.

@ggocsei Here’s a new recording of your current site rending as fully valid AMP, with the navigation menu working. The previous recording seems to be processing:

    Hello @jamesosborne,
help me, is there a way to make my menu work when in standard mode?
I used AMP on Hestia themem, and the menu not working too.

    Thank you.

@quatangdogia @wwwnews000kcom All themes are built differently. There is therefore no way to make all navigation menus work in AMP by default. This is not a plugin limitation. Custom JavaScript – used in most navigation menus has some restrictions in AMP. We’ve therefore added some documentation and guides for users who are experiencing this expected behavior on AMP URLs – if using a non AMP compatible theme:
    https://amp-wp.org/documentation/playbooks/toggling-hamburger-menus

While it’s up to developers of themes to make their themes AMP compatible you can use the plugin in reader mode. This mode allows you to select a different AMP compatible theme for your AMP URLs. The canonical (non AMP) version of your site is not impacted.

You’ll find more details by visiting the website resource mentioned above.
