    Hi there,

Great plugin, we’re using it on a number of client sites and looking at possibly purchasing the Pro API keys in the near future for the majority of the sites we run it on.

That said however, we’re seeing an issue where things like the Memory Test, System Configuration’s and API access test links only show the home pages of the site when using a child theme.

Specifically, we have the latest WordPress version, latest Wordfence version, parent theme is up to date also and nothing drastic was changed in the child theme other than some additional widget areas, rearrangements and a bit CSS changes.

That said the parent theme and even default WordPress themes work fine with those links, but only the child theme doesn’t.

As this child theme was developed by one of our developers, we’re wondering if this is an issue with any / most child themes or not supporting child themes or if this is something caused by out child theme itself.

If you need the child theme code or anything, we can get the emailed through to yourselves where required.

Anotehr ntoe, we’re using Responsive by Cyber Chimps s the parent theme, and using their child theme example theme files as the main base of the site.

Also no errors are reported that we can see on the web server, and nothing in WordPress DEBUG when set to true.

Any help would be appreciated in this as it will help us get some child theme guidlines in place for Wordfence support.

    Thanks,
    Bison Grid.

    Hi Bison,

Please verify that when you disable Wordfence the issue goes away.

We don’t modify parent/child theme relationships in any way and we don’t do home page redirects.

    Regards,

    Mark.

    Hello Mark,

The issue will go away with Wordfence disabled… Because it is Wordfence we are trying to use when seeing this issue.

the Memory Test, System Configuration’s and API access test links only show the home page

Please re read what was said in the original post.

The issue is that the Wordfence functionality with the “Memory Test” and other links like that in the options page do not work properly in the child themes that were developed.

We were asking about some advise of guidelines on how themes must act to allow those links to work.

This is not a Wordfence issue, this is a theme issue but we’re at a loss with understanding why this does not work.

    Thanks,
    Bison Grid.

    Ah, sorry I misunderstood.

Thanks for reporting this, I’ve logged an issue and we’ll get it fixed. The way the mem test and a few other items were designed links to the home page and then adds a query string param of _wfsf which is supposed to trigger a Wordfence function but in some installations it doesn’t work because of the way home page requests are being captured by other parts of WordPress or themes or plugins. So I’ve been meaning to redesign this for some time and we’ll get it improved to use a dedicated non-homepage URL.

    Regards,

    Mark.
