• Hi all,

I’ve used WordPress before for basic blogs, but have hit a wall on my current project. It is a free membership-based site in which people register for the mailing list and gain access to content in a Members Only area.

Right now, I am using the WP-Private plugin to keep the “Members Only” area password protected. My question concerns registration; all of the plugins I have found require a prospective subscriber to go into the WordPress register/login screen in order to register as a user. I would far prefer it if I could create my own page with our logos on it that they can use to register.

The only way around this I have found so far is to have the auto-responder notify me when new people join and I create their user account myself and send them a name and password. Needless to say, this seems a bit intensive and won’t give people immediate access.

Anyone have any ideas that I can use to make this work more efficiently?

  • Have you tried WP-Members?

It puts the registration process into the blog front end. Also, it can notify you when a user registers (which you can optionally moderate).
