    Hi All,

    So I was asked recently how a wordpress website can get their membership moved from a paper subscription to an online membership. I know there are some plugins that can help with this but there are some caveats that I would love an opinion on.

    This very small non profit organization makes a paper journal, they have their people either use paypal or check to subscribe. However, all the content is on the site. We are thinking of making some areas paid only viewing. A tiered system where some users can opt into print versions and others can view the site as an APP. There website gets a lot of traffic so we need to make some content free, some paid for, others for members. They wanted to maybe make a PDF version for past publications, but I think thats a bit old-school, no? Better to just think about a platform that can take payment for multiple options?

    Can you recommend articles, plugins, or approaches that might allow some way to start this process? Thoughts are most appreciated ! Thanks! A

    A tiered membership sounds like the best option for this scenario.

    Paid Member Subscriptions will allow you to create tiered subscriptions plans (free or paid) and restrict content based on logged-in status or selected subscription.
    You could for example, have content visible for everyone, content visible just for members (for free if they register), and content visible only for paying members.

    I strongly suggest encouraging people to create an account, even if it’s a free one, since building an email list can help you better market your publication or announce readers about new content in the future.

    The plugin also allows you to setup paid membership levels, for which users can apply and pay via PayPal. The paid members can maybe also get access to a page from where to download the .pdf version of the publication.
