‘Members Only’ How do users edit/change their password?

    Hi there,

    I am using the Mandigo theme on WordPress 2.5.1. I am also using the ‘Members Only’ plugin and have it set so only registered users can see my blog. I use my blog for my family diary so I have family and friends viewing it only. I like it that way.

    However, I have noticed a problem. When a user registers my WordPress blog will send them an automatically generated password. They log in fine with that and can see my blog no problem, but there is nothing on my blog for my users to see their profile and therefore edit it with their own passwords.

    Please could someone point out where I can add that option or something. I have ‘Meta’ turned off as I was advised that.

  • So you aren’t going to tell your users about the admin ‘Your Profile’ to change their password?

    Maybe a plugin then?

    Forgive me, but I don’t understand what you mean? Unless I haven’t explained properly but….

    What I want is for users to be able to edit their own profiles and choose their own passwords. When they sign up to my blog (not here) they get sent a password from my blog. They login, see my blog. But when they’re session times out, they cannot log back in because they don’t remember the auto generated password. And there is nothing on my blog (no link) for them to look at their profile and/or edit their profiles adding a custom password.

    Does that make sense? Can I add a custom link? Thanks in advance.

    Thank you Michael. That is perfect when a user is logged in/out.

    Although, is there a link for them to view/edit their profile at all so they are able to customise their profile and better still their passwords so each time they don’t have to keep requesting forgotten passwords.

    Assuming your blog is installed in the web-root folder, then https://www.sample.com/wp-admin (or wp-login.php) would get them into the admin section if they are logged in.

    Thank you Michael. I tried the code you gave me in the sidebar. It didn’t seem to work, so I added the ‘Text’ widget and tried it there. Didn’t seem to work there neither, just showed an empty space.

    So I came up with a workaround and going to post it here in case anyone else is having the same issues :-)…..

    My blog, you need to be logged in to see it anyway, so I didn’t need the login part of the login/out, so I made a “Log out” link with the link to log out, then I made another link directly below that links directly to a users profile so they could click it and update their profiles, change/customise their info and most of all their passwords!

    Works a charm. Thank you for linking to the admin area. I logged in on my husbands (I didn’t know they had an admin area so thank you) and got the profile link from there.
