members on frontpage

hello wordpressians,

i’m searching for a hack or mod to add a section to the worpress frontpage (index.php) which displays my members (only 5 or 10) there. (avatar and username)

so not a huge memberlist or such, just a kind of an “featured members list” or a members spotlight.
