MeetUp Group in India

  • I find no Meetup Groups from India, though there are hundreds of developer spread across the country but the only Meetup I heard is WP Meetup Mumbai (that too only once; just started).
    Any one, WordPress – Developer, Designer, Blogger or Beginner interested to form a meetup group??
    I think I can sponser three Meetup.com groups but not if we have only 3 or 4 members because $12-$19 per month will be too much for five-six people.
    We already have an unofficial meetup group in Chhattisgarh (CG) (anyone from CG is invited) with 20 members but we are not comfortable with meetup.com
    16 of us met on 14th of this month

    Anyone from WordPress with any Idea or help on how can we regularize meetup groups, any idea on how to contact in a better way (of course online)
    What about having a website???
    any help will be appreciable.

    I’m from Chandigarh and would love to start a meetup in Chandigarh.

    I feel we in India do not have quality resources where developers can be helped to increase the level of awareness.

    I have seen at times, and I have seen many occasions as I have been in the field of development for the last 15 years, due to limited or lack of knowledge we end up doing disservice to customers and WordPress as well which should be fixed. I believe one or a group us need to fix the problem and give back to the community.

    I have already created a group of Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/354263784660102/) hoping to leverage and get people to meet. The idea has been with me for sometime but I finally decided to take some action.

    Creating website would be nice and maybe on WordPress.com to start with. It will be nice to discuss some ideas and thoughts. Let me know how you want to improve interactions.

    I would be interested initially for sponsorship but nothing beyond 3 months because after that I think I will be able to support the meetup regularly if I cannot get one of the local companies to sponsor it.
