• When I try to upload media, the “An Error occurred in the upload. Please Try again later.” message appears.

The media still uploads to my media library, but I cannot access it from a post (thus I cannot insert it into a post or use it as a featured image, etc).

I have been through the forums. I have been on the phone with my server changing files and whatnot.

I have uninstalled plugins and disabled them. Nothing has worked.

If I can go back and un-update to 3.5 I would.

  • The issue I had was that for some reason, WordPress was trying to use /tmp as the writable directory, when it wasn’t available.

You could try editing your wp-config.php and create your own TMP directory.

    define(‘WP_TEMP_DIR’,’/link-to-your-folder-you-just-made’);

Jme: if I delete those files, is all of my media also deleted? I cannot afford to create my website from scratch.

Jonathan: I did that. My webhost also did that. It didn’t help anything. I’m still having the problem.

PattayaNic: How do you turn on VPN?

You could try logging in via FTP and just re-upload all the WordPress files.

You shouldn’t need VPN, I don’t know why a VPN was mentioned.

Jonathan: for those of us who are computer-challenged, do you mind walking us through that? Also, if I do that, is all my website info deleted? As I said before, I cannot afford to start from scratch.

I know how to log on via FTP but I don’t know how to re-upload the WordPress files.

I mentioned VPN because it solved my problem, don’t ask why. Then I turn it off WP wont work. It should not have anything to do with the problem described, for some reason it helped me. Awaiting answer from my web host one.com

You connect a VPN server, it lets you surf anonymously. one provider is https://www.hidemyass.com

    That’s a HUGE security risk.

You’re entering your username and password through a third-party that could easily be capturing your login information. Who knows what they do with it.

I strongly urge you to NOT use that service for logging into your site.

Well VPN tunnels are suppose to protect the user from just that… It is a safe connection, it is recommended then using hotspot. Well Well, guess we went pretty far OT there.

Okay, I fixed mine by deactivating my plugins, then realizing that my prophoto plugin had an update I needed to do from their site on a zip file. This fixed my issues. Hope that helps.

Yes using VPS also works for me I’ve even made it to work using a proxy site like https://quickunblock.com/

I am facing the same issue on my blog eYuva .
I am using the latest version of Genesis framework and wordpress.
