I’m having a problem where all of a sudden my media uploader wont respond. I deleted a featured image from a page in WP, cleared caches and then cropped the image on my pc and tried to upload to the page or the library. Likewise there is no response when I try to select a picture from my library. nothing happens when I click “show” or when I click “select Files” on the “upload media” page.

I have tried this on FF13 and the latest Chrome ver. I can FTP images to the site but get no response when I try to insert images from the library or select images from my pc to upload.

I have spoken to Studiopress who say its not their theme’s problem and my hosts who are also investigating. I have disabled a number of installed plugins – with the same result.

    I am using WP3.3.2

Glad someone else has the same problem (if you know what I mean:-)

My problems began when I removed an existing image from that page , deleted it in the Library and then cropped it and optimized it on my pc before trying to upload and set it again as the Featured Image.

    : Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    I have tried
    – deactivating all plugins
    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WP
-tried activating the Twenty eleven theme
    – I do not know how to reset the plugins folder?

The error log mon FF >tools> web Developer> error console says the following:
    Timestamp: 13/06/2012 13:45:41
    Error: jQuery is not defined

Sorry – meant to add that the problem is still there.

I do not know how to reset the plugins folder

Please see the page at the link I gave above.

I have performed the action – no difference.

[No bumping. If it’s that urgent, consider hiring someone.]

Oh boy. I cant afford to – so I guess i’ll just have to join the queue.

Please remember that these free forums are staffed by volunteers who have other stuff (like, sleep, eating and work) to do sometimes. Are all of your other, older images, still working?

    Thread Starter brianrho

    (@brianrho)

I appreciate the fact that they are volunteers. This is the first time I have had a problem and I have uploaded many images to the site – all of which are working perfectly.

Now though I am unable to even try and upload or select images from the library to put on a page.

I have also got my hosting company on it – and they arent having much success. Perhaps WP3.4 will do the trick if its launched in the next day or so. I am a bit software illiterate but I am sure that its something to to with java not doing its job properly:-)

It’s not a WP issue as such. It’s specific to your site, so an upgrade is unlikely to solve the problem. Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

Do you think it could be Host service related? I mean hosting service?

If absolutely nothing has changed on your site between uploads working and then not working, then – yes – a server issue has to be likely. Getting your hosts to admit and/or fix it, however, could be another thing entirely. Do you have any other WordPress sites hosted with the same company?

    (@brianrho)

Yes I do and i have just checked it. The media uploader is working perfectly.

And I am using the same Studiopress child theme.
