• from what I can figure out, media uploads are stored in a folder called uploads. After installing WP, I can’t find this folder on the server. I imagine this missing folder should have files in it, so simply staring a upload folder doesn’t do anything.

Can any help me with this problem. It’s driving me crazy

  • Did you read the sticky about image uploader problems? It has some good info.

Yes it does, but it doesn’t solve my problem

Manually create a wp-content/uploads folder. Permissions should be 755.
Within that folder created a folder called 2009. It should be 755.
Make sure in the dashboard, general settings and check that WordPress address does not end with a /.

    Try to upload an image.

BTW, the folder uploads is empty until you upload an image.

Thanks for your help. I did all this and nothing uploaded. Still stymied!!

What error message, if any, are you getting?

Can you FTP to the uploads folder?

    Have you tried both uploaders?

Thanks one again for your assistance. I don’t get an error message. I haven’t tried to FTP the stuff. I’m using the browser uploader (I think it’s the default) what’s the “other” uploader?

Since you don’t get an error message, can you describe exactly what the problem is?

Actually the Flash uploader is the default. You should try both.

If the upload looks like it works, goes thru crunching, etc. but nothing is there when done, try changing your wp-content/uploads folder to 777.

If that does not work, download mod_security fix plugin.
