Media Upload Not Working on Buddypress Activity

Hi I have the latest edition of WP, with media press installed, and buddypress. I have it set for all users (User Role Editor plugin) to upload media files at activity page, but problem is the activity page upload buttons don’t work.

For info I am also using Media Press Featured Images, and have a couple of galleries auto-creating, which all seems to work fine.

Nothing pops up when I click the buttons on activity page.

If I hover the upload image button I get this bottom left of browser:
https://www.my-website.com/my-username/#

If I click the upload image button I get the above in url path and this bottom left:
https://www.my-website.com/my-username/gallery
(FYI I changed name of some of urls, I think gallery was one of my new name changes)

Any idea what could be causing this?

The page with the issue is not on a live site so I can’t share
