• I am aware that there are lots of issues and information out there on this problem, but many of them in the forums are 3+ years old. I wondered what the current suggestions are for when the Media upload gives an http error. I deleted extraneous plugins, had my host company (GoDaddy) check the apache file size limits, and tried deleting extra files that were unused. I have tried using the multi-item uploader as well as the browser uploader. I have not tried an ftp uploader though I am willing to if someone can recommend one for me to use on an old and tired Mac.

I am using Jetpack, which I read could be a problem. But I am worried that if I deactivate Jetpack, once I reactivate it, the images may not work anyhow.

I read somewhere else that I should be current on Flash updates – and I think I am, though I assume that’s only an issue with the multi-item uploader and shouldn’t affect the browser uploader.

    Anyone have any current suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

  • glad it worked for someone else.

I would like to note that it may not be a plugin or configuration at all.

Case in point I tried all the programatic options I could find and in the end the solution was the images(JPG in this case) were in CMYK color mode saved from someone’s photoshop. I was able to open the images in Photoshop and change their color mode to RGB and they uploaded no problem. They were only a few hundred K so its not like they were massive images and this drove me nuts. I noticed that someone stated that they were able to get some images but not others I would bet that this is their issue.

If you don’t have access to photoshop I am pretty sure you can accomplish with GiMP or even re-saving from MS Paint

Well I figured this out and thought I would add to the group as it drove me nuts and maybe it can help someone.

I have same issue with the site in godaddy – it is new site, no plugins activated, managed to import all content, including images from drupal to wp but cant upload new images to media library. Tried to switch to original wp themes, still same error.
