I keep getting this error message when trying to upload an image

    Error Untitled1.png
The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2014/12.

I know it’s not the format of the image or something I am doing wrong. Is this a bug?

Please advise as we rely heavily on images for our site.

I have been getting this error for the past 2 days. Nothing has changed. I just started getting this error out of the blue.

And have you checked the file permissions?

I think what they mean is that nothing changed before the problem started. I am having the same problem, and I am looking at the changing file permissions page, and I am really really really bad at code and have no idea what I’m supposed to do. I certainly didn’t mess with any coding anywhere that would have changed the default settings.

Sometimes permissions can get changed by other things, including your hosting company. So if you don’t know how to check yours per the above article, ask your hosting company for help.

Hmm…this happened to one of my wordpress sites as well recently. No modifications made on my end to anything, no disc space issues etc. Hoping it’s hosting related and can be resolved.

I am having the same problem. I have not been able to upload images for four days. I keep getting the following message:

“The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2014/12.”

I am pretty hopeless with code but I do not think I use FTP so I am not sure how to fix this problem.

I have managed to get mine fixed. Another forum suggested phoning my host (Go Daddy) and they reset the file permissions. Out of interest, on the other forum, two others with the same problem were also hosted by Go Daddy.

Thanks, ayc_ – i am still having the problem, and am hosted by GoDaddy as well – i will call them today.

Hmm. I talked to them and they said they couldn’t fix the error unless I upgraded to the Linux hosting plan. That doesn’t sound right. Anyone else run into that?

I am having similar issues and am hosted by GoDaddy as well.

Did calling them rectify it all?

I am not on Linux and they fixed mine but the guy did try to change me over to that at the end of the call. I said I would look into it because, although he was really helpful fixing the problem, it sounded a bit sales pitchy.

The same thing happened to me last week with no changes to the website prior to the issue. I had a similar issue trying to install new plug-ins. All of a sudden it started working again last week and now the problem is back. I am hosted by GoDaddy too. I will call them as well.

I am having this issue also.

I am not with GoDaddy but am based in Ireland so could be a middle person account who went through or are part of the group.

I too am getting that error message, and my site depends on images ??

How quick was the issue resolved?

I was unable to upload images for about four days. However, today I was on the phone to Go Daddy for about half an hour and the problem was fixed then and there.
