• Hello there!

My uploads are broken since 3.6 + a server move (switching hosts, I’m now with MediaTemple), it refuses to create a new 2013/08 folder and asks about my permissions.

As suggested in this other topic, I did the following, but no success…

    – deactivating all plugins
    – switching to the default theme
    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP
    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress
    – and also: chmoding 777, then 775, then back to 755…

    Nothing does. Any clues?

    Many thanks in advance.

PS. Also tried to make a new install for a fresh new blog and the upload works okay on the same server… So it’s probably not about the host?

  • That’s great! Thank you. My install was completely fresh, so I was having different problems than you. I was able to change my permissions to 777, and it worked, but then for some reason, I could not change them back to 755. I had to have the server peeps do it. Weird. Hopefully your line of php will keep this from happening again, because I’m running three installs of WordPress on this new site.

https://github.com/mootools/mootools-core/issues/2202 was the answer to the same problem I had.

Short version: disable pop-up blockers and see if it works. Took me 2 hours to find that, haven’t seen it propogated in the support forums.

And Esmi: Running 15 WP sites isn’t a reason to call OP’s hosting idiots — they were responding to her urgent situation instead of saying things like “WP MUST create the folder” (it musn’t) and “it’s not a WP problem” (In my case is — a core functionality is broken without a visible error message by common popup blockers)

Thank you so much!! This was the answer.

I was having this problem on one of my dedicate virtual servers running 100+ wordpress sites. I found that there was a problem with mod_security and wordpress 3.6. Contact server and let them know and give them access to your site, they can fix this pretty effortlessly.

    Thanks, Exiledesigns
My hosting co and I were tearing out our hair over this issue.
