Media settings being ignored when inserting Large images

  • I am editing a child theme using twentyfourteen.

    I have edited the Media Settings to change the dimensions for all 4 default image sizes. When I upload a new image, the correct sizes appear on the server in the uploads folder.

    However, when I insert the Large image into a post, the attachment display settings “size” menu shows the wrong size for the Large file. It then inserts the correct image file with the correct dimensions, but with the wrong image attributes.

    ex:

    <img src=”image_560x300.jpg” width=”474″ etc…

    This is only true for the large size. The others are acting as expected and grabbing the sizes I entered in the media settings.

    I know 474 is a max width for the theme but I have changed this in the css…. is there somewhere else that is overriding the Media settings?
