• When clicking on the ‘Media’ panel in the dashboard I get ‘Page not found’ error for upload.php. The file upload.php does exist on the server, so that isn’t the problem. Does anyone else have a solution for me?

    Thanks.

  • Could there be something going on with the .htaccess file or permalink configuration causing an issue?

Is this a new site or one that has been working fine for some time?

If it is an existing site, what was your last change, plugin install, theme update etc? Can you revert back?

This is a new install hosted at GoDaddy.

Have you tried just reinstalling WP yet?

I just got a response back from GoDaddy. They said the media panel crashes because there wasn’t a default image in the uploads folder in WP. It works now.

Weird, that WP 3 worked on my localhost just fine. LOL

I have the same problem and nothing I’ve tried works so far.
I’m running WP 3. I also just reinstalled it and everything except for the media is working fine. I have multiple categories that are feeding with MySQL to a site designed in Dreamweaver. I’m also hosted by GoDaddy.
Posting text is running great, but i can not add any media. When I click on the media button in the admin menu, it said upload.php can not be found(and it is on the server.

Also, when I upload an image in a post, once it starts crunching it gives me an error
“The uploaded file could not be moved to D:\hosting\4765828\html\blog/wp-content/upLoads.”

There is no D:\ directory on my computer and I know I need to change that to go up to the server and the database. I just don’t know where I could do that?

I’m also not sure what you mean by having a default image in the uploads folder. There is an image in my uploads folder that’s called default and its still not working. Am I not understanding this?

    Please help. Thanks.

O also, all plug ins are disabled.

For anyone having the same problem. After hours of trouble shooting and realized that the permissions i was setting up in Dreamweaver were not actually uploading to GoDaddy.
Anyone thinking about joining GoDaddy, think twice…. Its super confusing and shitty.

So, the resolution was to go into the GoDaddy hosting file manager. Don’t ask me how to find it though… it took me good 10 minutes. Then when you click on the file there is a small icon on top of all the files, where you can chance the permission. Make sure both write and read are selected…. and magic. it all works.

Thanks so much for the millions of posts dealing with the same problem. They really helped me a lot and best to all who have the same problem.
