I’ve had a hard time finding out why media pages and tags etc are indexed within Google, even after my Yoast settings in Post Types has always been set to noindex.

When I do find a media attachment or tag indexed page within Google, I click on the link, and login to find that the Yoast meta box, still has it set to index and to follow by robots.

Why is my Yoast setting not going trough to all page son my website?

  • Hi,

Can you provide a link to where the issue is happening? It could be an issue with Yoast not outputting the noindex tag correctly or an issue with Google needing to update the index.

Additionally, if you were to use Fetch as Googlebot: https://kb.yoast.com/article/108-fetch-as-googlebot on the link (you may need to run it a couple times), does the page still appear in Google? If not, then the issue was related to Google needing to update the index.
