Media not exporting when running media export

  • Hi,

    I have found that it seems like WordPress has added the capability to export media in there export function. When I run this I only get an .xml file, is that all it does? I would have thought it would have exported the whole media library ie photos, videos etc. Is there something Im missing?

    That is correct. The importer uses urls in this file to pull in & copy images, pdf files etc. from the old site. So it’s important that the site that produced the export file remains available until the import is coimpleted successfully.

    Hi, I did this operation a few weeks ago and imported the material into a wordpress.com blog. But spot checks are showing me that not all of the images were transferred. I don’t want to repeat the process in case it duplicates all the images, or overwrites others that were already there.

    Be grateful for advice soon as I’m about to lose my hosting!
