Media Mp3s won't play

The WP template I am using (for a church site) has a widget for recent messages. When I click on the message the file won’t play. It just shows the media file as 0 seconds.

I’ve tried linking it to a dropbox file but apparently when I put the file url in my address bar it sends me to a download page as opposed to just the file.

What program(s) should I have my media files in to be able to use them with WP? I’ve tried dropbox and onedrive/skydrive. Or am I doing something wrong?
