• Hello,

I recently updated my site’s design to use WordPress for everything, with the blog section getting its own page. The structure is example.com/blog/ . Now, my media files are missing; all that shows up is the “missing/broken media” placeholder. My site’s file hierarchy for media files is Site/wp-content/ . Taking a look at the hyperlinks, it’s trying to look for files in Site/blog/wp-content/ but there isn’t even a blog directory. It’s all done through .htaccess code copied and pasted from WordPress’ permalink settings.

    What gives?

Why? Did you configure WordPress to use a custom uploads folder via the wp-config.php file? By default, the uploads folder would be site/blog/wp-content/uploads

Sorry, yes, it is. I accidentally redacted that part. It’s Site/wp-content/uploads. The WordPress installation folder is the root directory. Should I install it to something like Site/WordPress/ ?

Where did you originally install WordPress on your site/domain?

I had a “blog” directory which had WordPress installed. I then moved everything to the root directory to apply WordPress site-wide. Since I started the thread it’s now in its own “WordPress” directory following the Codex’s instructions, but I’m still getting the missing files.

I then moved everything to the root directory

In that case, you missed something when you carried out the move.

    A non-manual reinstall didn’t work. Should I manually reinstall 3.5.1?

A manual reinstall didn’t work—so now I’m assuming it’s a MySQL problem. Where do I modify my tables to point files to the right place?

Fixed the problem… it was media links not updating automatically. So, I’m going to run a MySQL query to replace all file paths.
