• This monday when my client wanted to set a featured image for a post at his wordpress site (which I manage) https://www.1company.se/, he ran into an issue while uploading the file. It starts the upload, but when it seems to finish it “jumps back” to about 20%, and claims that an error has occured (we use the swedish version, so I don’t know what it would say in english), but it doesn’t give any specifics except that the upload failed.

When in this view (selecting featured image) the media library is also empty, despite the files being there (I looked on the ftp, and the pictures for old posts are still there).

The weird thing is that if you go to Media -> Library it looks just like normal, and the file that was claimed to fail to be uploaded is there.
It also fails to upload files in the Media -> Add, but if you use the so called “web uploader” it doesn’t produce the same errors, and the files are actually uploaded. I’ve tried this in both Chrome (Windows, Crunchbang (Debian distro)) and Firefox (Crunchbang).

I’ve tried disabling all plugins, and even removing all of them, with no difference to the media library whatsoever. I’ve also searched a lot on google, but I couldn’t find a solution.

  • Have you spoken to the hosts about this? Or checked the site’s error logs for a more specific error message?

I haven’t. I can do that as well.

Now I’ve emailed them, so we’ll see what they say. I don’t know how to access these logs myself, but maybe they do.
