• 1. In 3.9.1 with the sexy drag and drop uploader, the ability to use ftp and have WP read the media library has apparently been discontinued. Never mind that FTP uploads are faster than browser uploading. Never mind you have to turn on file uploads in the php.ini file every time you want to upload anything and be able to use it in themes or posts. And then turn off uploads in the php.ini file if you want to keep a secure site.

How about in the next bug update fix this issue and put back the ability to use ftp to the media library. Then have WP read the media library so images can actually be inserted into posts, pages and eCommerce themes.

    2. On two different test sites, I have had the upload paths display in the media settings dialog disabled due to a theme(s) or plugin(s) being tested. Disabling the suspected themes and plugins has not restored this core functionality. NO THEME OR PLUGIN should be allowed to disable core functions. Also reinstalling WP did not fix this issue.

    2. I agree. Where did you download these from?

I did a fresh manual install last night of WP 3.9.1 and the upload path option under Settings > Media was grayed out. I think wordpress in their omniscient wisdom have stopped allowing FTP uploads because of this hot dog drag and drop browser uploader which is set to only upload to the wp-content/uploads folder. Into year and month if that option is set in media settings and into the general folder if not set.

I would wager a beer that FTP will upload 500 300 dpi 1100×720 images much faster than a browser uploader will do.

So now we can’t use any folder but the uploads and use the built in media calls for inserting into a post. Good thing tinymce advanced’s image install function still allows a correct install from a url.

I would like to use some 4 letter words and work is not one of them but not on the forum.
