  • I have written small article on how to fix this issue.

    images-are-not-showing-in-media-library-wordpress-4-3

There are different problems described in this topic. For some people, the Media Library is not loading at all, and for others like me, the Media Library is not displayed for a new post but is displayed as soon as the post is saved as draft or published. I don’t think the origin of the bug is the same for these two cases…

Having the exact same problem on a site for my client.
    Any validated solution ?
    Thanks

I am having the same issue,
Medial library not showing image and files of september 2015 only.
    Upload not working as well
    Wordpress 4.3.1 PHP 5.6.13
Tried all tricks mentioned but no avail.
    Pretty frustrated. Any luck?

    Hi
I’m having the same problem. Can’t load media after updating to 4.3.1. I get an HTTP error message.

I tried re-installing 4.3.1, deactivating all my plugins, reducing the size of the image and changing the name. All to no avail!

Media library is OK and displays except for any pics which I tried to upload after the upgrade.
My posts have ground to a halt as I can’t post without pictures.

I don’t see much support from WordPress despite a number of people with the same problem.

Can anyone offer any advice? My hosting website is through HostPapa and their server is operating through PHP 5.5.29 so its not optimal but there’s nothing I can do about this.

    I’d appreciate any advice.

    Tx
    Joyce

    Hi Joyce,
You say that you get a HTTP error message: which one?
Do you have a way to check the permissions on your uploads folder?

Hello Lucile – I am having the same media upload problem. Went to upload a picture yesterday, only to receive the following error message.

Unable to create directory uploads/2015/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I can see that the software tries to do the job as the upload messages appear briefly on the screen before the error is announced. The existing media library is unaffected – can still see all the pictures I uploaded prior to this issue arriving sometime between September 20 (last successful post) and Oct 4 (can’t upload pictures).

After hunting around on Google, I tried a popular suggestion for how to fix this issue – used FileZilla to check the file permissions (changed uploads directory to 744, no luck, went back to 755, still no luck). I then set the file upload to 644 and still no joy.

There are no outstanding updates for WordPress or any of my plugins so, as far as I can tell, everything is up to date.

What would you suggest I try next? Please let me know if you need more information to assist with diagnosis.

    Regards,
    Howard

    Hi Howard,
It’s like WP wasn’t able to create the directory for October (named “10”). Did you check the permissions on the directory “2015”? If you create the directory “10” manually, can you upload files?

    Hello again Lucile,

I’ve looked at the directory for 2015 – has a permission setting of 755, along with all the subdirectories, including the one for 10. The subdirectory for 09 was last modified on 20/9/15 while the one for 10 is showing last modified on 3/1/15. On the face of it, everything looks like 10 should be set to receive new pictures.

Do you want me to delete the existing 10 subdirectory and create a new one? First time user of this software so bit hesitant about digging around in the depths of the file structure. Any tips and tricks for a beginner making the new 10 subdirectory would be appreciated.

It’s weird that your folder for October was last modified in January (or you forgot a “0”?)
May be you can try to rename the “10” folder to “10-bkp” and then upload a file, just to see in the “10” folder is re-created…

PS: I’m sorry but I’m also a simple user of WP ??

My hosting website HostPapa fixed the problem for me but I don’t know how they did it. If anyone is computer illiterate like me and has a host provider, maybe they could get help through them.

Appreciate the advice. I’ll try these suggestions and let you know how I go.

Same issue here. media not loading period. The loading circle just spins and spins. On wp 4.3.1, tried every solution offered in this post and the other 100 open posts, even on other sites, nothing works. completely deleted all plugins and theme went back to wp basic theme, no joy. countless other forums on the exact same topic all closed with no solution. Found this problem fix on an update from a 3.6 forum, checked code, still ok. The fix for line in taxonomy.php, 4.3.1 has made the changes. Has anyone heard anything from wp? I hear grumblings of serious issues with Ajax on other wp forums and other sites but no solutions.

Not much we have not tried here but take a look for those interested

Ok, so after all of that, reinstalled wp and theme again, no go but had under construction on, the one from easy coming soon, It was only on one instance, one site but now after dumping that that install works great, pulled up a new one and bam, works great. Other instance partial work, it pulls up media but not letting me upload full image. Sorry for my mistake I forgot totally about hiding that site behind a coming soon page. By the one that does work and has social media buttons and email options was WP construction mode by Smartcat. Still digging on other issue but last install of 4.3.1 did something.
