    I upgraded to 3.1.3 today and although my Media Library says I have 2021 images, it shows absolutely nothing in the list – looking as though the library is empty. There are no problems with the existing images in posts displaying on my site, so it seems to be an internal disconnect.

    Any idea on what could be causing that or a setting I need to alter?

    Much thanks.

  • Unfortunately the hotfix did not resolve the images not being displayed in Media Library issue, nor the WPEC issue.

    I was hopeful that the other workaround was the unchecking of organizing folders in month, year but no go.

    How do you know the hotfix was installed? I click the link and white page is displayed with the following text:

    Install hotfix on https://www.domainname.com/ ?

    Could I manually upload the hotfix.php file? If so, which directory should it reside in?

    Finally getting the go-ahead to move a 4 yr-old site to a “good” server from a Godaddy server,
    installed clean WordPress 3.1.3 with no plugins installed or activated,
    installed & ran the WordPress importer plugin,
    checked ‘download all attachments’ or images. Import stalled out many times but finally imported all post content. Import file was over 5 MB but not over the 10MB limit set by php.ini.

    Anyway, the attachments were getting uploaded to the new server but they were not showing in Media Library.

    Then I installed & activated WP-E-Commerce. Remained bothered by empty Media Library. Deactivated WP-E-Commerce.

    Found this post.Followed a suggestion to input the full path to files and input wp-content/uploads in Settings > Media. Media Library still empty.
    Installed Hotfix plugin by Mark Jaquith. Media Library is full!!!
    Thanks for this thread everybody. I hope it stays active because it really helped me out and no doubt it can help many others.

    This didn’t work in an htaccess file but did work when added to a vhost.conf file on my virtual server:

    <IfModule mod_fcgid.c>
    FcgidMaxRequestLen 26214400
    </IfModule>

    Help – I’m having a similar problem (I think)… Some media files (.jpgs) are randomly disappearing from the media library and from blog posts; they’ll be there one minute and gone the next. I can find the files through cPanel but the media library says the file doesn’t exist. I haven’t had a chance to try deactivating all the plugins to see if that’s the problem. I did try the hotfix above and it didn’t work (although I’m using WP 3.3.1, so maybe that’s the reason).

    I’m pretty new at this and probably know enough to get myself into trouble but not always out of it. The references above to rebuilding the site are somewhat disturbing… Is there somewhere I can find a slightly more simplified discussion of this problem?

    Thanks for any help you can offer!

    This plugin WordPress Flash Uploader is better to synch your media library. Whenever you have new images that are not showing, it will refresh the list when you hit again the button to synchronize.

    Thanks! I checked the plugin page and I’m not sure whether this addresses my problem or not.

    The problem isn’t when I upload new images; they all upload just fine. But every once in a while, images that I uploaded some time ago disappear from the library and from the page(s) where I’ve inserted them. Will the Flash Uploader plugin help with that?

    When you use this plugin, you just need to use the Sync Media Library, and just hit the Import files button..

    Images I uploaded since 2011 were placed in my media libarary.

    You may not need to use the Flash Uploader, you only use the Sync Media Library function that comes with it….

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! The Sync Media Library worked like a charm. Yes, I lost some info here and there and it imported some extra versions/sizes of certain photos, but I’m not complaining!!!! This thread should be put at the TOP of the list of threads covering this subject ??
