Ok … I have searched the forums looking for something that would guide me, but to no avail. This topic, to my knowledge, has not been raised.

I have a new site I am building, so I have the latest and greatest WP release (2.8.6).

Functionally, the Media Library is working wonderfully. However, having more than 20 items (without adjusting the screen options), links to sub pages to view items 21+ are not made available unless I go to the “Unattached” option. When using the “Unattached” option, I do get the “Displaying 1-0 of 0 [?][1][2][3][?]” page links. The difference between the “All” and “Images (##)” options compared to the “Unattached” option is “&paged=1” switch is appended to “…/wp-admin/upload.php?detached=1” in the address bar.

Under the “All” and “Images (##)” options, I can manually append “&paged=1” (or “2”, etc.) to the URL, and be able to see items 21+, so I know that part works, so this is more of a display issue with the code for the Media Library, which should be relatively easy to resolve, as long as I know where to look. This is where I am either searching for assistance, or, need advise on where to download a bug fix.

So far, to circumvent this issue, I have adjusted the screen options to show 999 items (maximum allowed), however this is only a temporary fix, as over time, searching through and ever growing list will become quite overwhelming, not to mention if down the line I end up with more than 999 items.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

    Lane

  • I’d try re-uploading your wp-admin directory. It ‘feels’ like some files are missing or broken.

Was not able to replicate this problem, works fine for me.

You didn’t mention if you’re using plugins, do you have any installed that interact with media? Perhaps one of those could be causing a problem (if you have any installed of course).

I also don’t have this problem on any of several installs, by the way. And trust me, the graphics people would be complaining if any of them noticed a problem with this.

I never touch the media library unless i’m testing something that needs post attachments, but i always have something in there for when needed.

I’m sure you’re right apljdi (can’t help but think apple jedi everytime i write that, lol), if this problem was common, they’d be alot of people here reporting it already, which leaves the question, what’s unique on your install wendilane ?.. (which is why i enquired about plugins)..

can’t help but think apple jedi everytime i write that, lol

That’s actually where the name came from– Apple computer + Jedi– though that comes from way back at systems 7 and 8 when I actually liked Macs. System 10 makes me nuts.

Only ever used a Mac once or twice myself, and that was when working in tech support, so the references to systems 7 & 8 mean absolutely nothing to me…

Never liked the idea of all my hardware only being available from one place and from what i had seen, at a premium. Maybe that’s changed now, but the last time i looked at Macs they all used their own particular hardware. Far be it from me to know all about it though…

I’d love to see Linux in a windows like form (with the same level of support), then i could dump Windows once and for all, but until Linux supports all the games and apps i want to use, it’ll remain a pipe dream. Although i’m half thankful, i know next to nothing about Linux operation, being that i’ve spent all my time infront of Windows based computers.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, at least now when i think apple jedi i won’t feel so weird about it.. (i half suspect you told me before, and i had forgotten – i’ll blame my old’ish age if that’s the case, hehe).

My first half a dozen computers where Macs– not counting the VIC-20— and I still handle tech support for an office of about a dozen Macs. Now most of my work is on Slackware but I have a couple of Windows boxes too. But not to hi-jack the thread…
