Media Library Image Upload Not Working

  • I have a problem uploading new images to the Media Library, it is also not working via the Upload/Insert option on the pages and/or posts.

    I have tried the drag and drop option, the choose file option and the browser upload option, all of these get to 30% on the progress bar and then hangs.

    I did manage one upload yesterday and first thing today but thereafter it does not work.

    I have the Smush-it plugin which I’ve deactivated to test if this was the problem – no difference. The server on my host is fine.

    The problem seems to have occurred after upgrade to WP 3.3.2

    Can anyone confirm if they are having the same problem? or Suggested a fix?

    That looks like it is due to the e-commerce plugin ‘Marketpress’ as their colour scheme is the same – I have deactivated the plugin but there is obviously legacy code somewhere – the style sheet etc. However this plugin has not stopped any upload operation to-date and I’ve been running since January

    I had the same problem this morning…. turns out to be a permissions problem.

    Change the following permissions to 777 for the following files:

    In the wp-admin folder
    /media-upload
    /media
    /media-new
    /load-scripts
    And the folder (including it’s files) wp-includes/plupload

    Then change them back to 644!!

    Thanks gcaptain – just tried that and it worked! but… only for one image upload, I seem to be able to upload one image then the upload ‘jams’

    Try also changing your permissions for the upload folder:
    /wp-content/uploads/2012/04

    I have the same problem. Did this issue ever get resolved?

    HI, I am having the exact same problem of images not uploading to the library.
    I have re-installed WP and tested using different themes and the same thing keeps happening. Is there a solution?

    After struggling with this issue, both here, with WordPress and my web host, I finally realised that there were lots of posts on the WordPress forums about HTTP issues and problems when uploading media with the current version of WP.

    My final solution was really simple – I downgraded back to version 3.4.2 (from 3.5.1) and everything works again.
