• I’m loving the fact WordPress now has a decent built in Media Library, and I’d like to stop using Nextgen Gallery, but I’ve run into some limitations that seem to be affecting a number of people.

    1. You cannot change the date attached to images, they are set to whatever the time/date was at the time of upload.

    2. You cannot upload a batch of images via FTP and have the Media Library scan the directory.

My problem is that I have upwards of 6,000 images stretching back as far as 1999 that I already have arranged in a /year/month structure. I want to import these images into the Media Library, and have the dates on them be correct.

I know the dir scanning has certain complicating factors like the creation of thumbnails, but the ability to change the date on the image is just a quick SQL amendment isn’t it?

  • I also am in the same situation, except that I also have all the images associated with wordpress posts.

I use only WordPress, I have a huge media library, and I am having to move data from one wordpress account to another. It is easy to export posts and full the images with FTP, but I do not know how to retain the association of the images with the rest of the blog info.

Surely there is already a thread about this, right?
